POTS (Part of the Solution) is a parish organization that provides food and a community lifeline—a soup kitchen, medical assistance, legal help, haircuts, showers, a mailing address and a kind and caring place for all—to people in the Bronx.

For the past 25 years Resurrection parishioners and POTS have served dinner to hundreds of guests on Thanksgiving and Christmas, have donated and delivered clothing and pantry goods to POTS in the Bronx.

Ever since 1982, when Fr. Ned Murphy, S.J. came to Resurrection asking for help to fund a soup kitchen in the Bronx, our parish has had a very special relationship with POTS. The money given by Resurrection in 1982 enabled Fr. Ned to buy the building at 2763 Webster Avenue in the Bronx that is now a soup kitchen and homeless shelter.

Resurrection’s commitment to POTS continues to grow deeper:

Every Christmas and Thanksgiving, members of Resurrection parish join the people at POTS. to provide holiday dinners for more than 800 people at Our Lady of Refuge Grammar School in the Bronx. For over 20 years, we have spent these holidays feeding the poor and homeless by donating all the food, preparing it, serving the dinners and cleaning up after.

Donated pantry food, toiletries and clothing are brought down to POTS by Resurrection volunteers six days a week. The Community Kitchen and Food pantry provide more than 250,000 meals annually.

Also, Resurrection's financial assistance through the years has helped Part of the Solution to expand its programs:

POTS now has a full time lawyer who represents and guides people in the areas of benefits--denials/appeals, eviction prevention and other legal matters. More than 1,000 individuals were helped in 2006.

Substance abuse treatment programs, educational and employment programs, medical care, public assistance, food stamps, etc. are some of the supports POTS is able to provide for its clients.

Resurrection is devoted to helping POTS live its mission statement:
