Holy Rosary

(Last updated: Tue Nov 4, 2008)

With the approval of the Parish Council, Holy Rosary Parish in Port Chester, has been designated an outreach partner.  Working with a diverse group of volunteers, Resurrection has made great strides in developing a social mission plan that facilitates outreach initiatives in this neighboring community.

New Way to Contribute

A wholesale selling company maintains a list of items it has available which people wishing to donate can purchase and they will distribute to the charity of the donor’s choice.  A web page for Holy Rosary parishioners has been established for this purpose.   You are invited to go to the web page and look over the items Holy Rosary has chosen as the items they need.  Click on  https://www.dollardays.com/ourladyoftherosarychurch/wishlist.html

Essentially these are items listed for Holy Rosary's outreach to the poor, especially the day laborers  When enough donations of a certain item have been received, Holy Rosary will delete it from their wish list.

Following is a summary of the work being done and in need of continued support:

Food

Resurrection provides an average of 20 bags of groceries a week to the  Holy Rosary Food Pantry.  Grocery bags with lists of what is needed can be found in the vestibule of the Church.

Clothing

The Open Closet offers clothing for men, women, children, and infants as well as books and household items (linens). Donations of clothing are received daily and can be left at a bin outside the Holy Rosary Church office.  Adult and teen volunteers are needed on Monday afternoons to help with the sorting and folding of the donations.

Folding donated clothing in a presentable fashion becomes a prayer.

A Read Aloud program, has also been established for Kindergarten through Second Grade children.  This is also held at held at the Don Bosco Center.  They are in need of teenage volunteer readers one Saturday a month from 11am to noon.
