We welcomed four parishioners who were observers at the meeting. Parishioners are urged to attend the monthly meetings of the Council which will meet on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at 96 Milton.
Our chairman, Rob Tiburzi, who is leaving the Council after three years, welcomed Tom Seaver, Scott Beechert, Susan LaFata, Barry Mitchell, Tom Pugliese, and John Lane (completed his three-year term and willing to return). The Council thanked Rob for a great job as chairman, and he in turn expressed his appreciation of a great council. Rob Tiburzi gave a run down of what the Council did this past year, what is going on in the parish, and what future projects the Council might include.
The chairman noted what remains to be done in completing a vision statement. He indicated what steps have been taken in developing a master plan for our campus, e.g. study of utilization of parish and school buildings. A Projects Committee for the Parish Campaign has been established: Doug Virtue, John Moran, Orly D’Angelo, Chris Scala, Rob Tiburzi, and Tom Seaver. The committee is presently addressing “leaks” in the Church. The Thorton Tomasetti firm has been hired to study the problems in the Church. The committee has to help the pastor decide on how much study of the problem should be done. Susan Hayes, President of Cauldwell-Wingate is a pro bono advisor on Church projects.
The following visitors to the council made presentations: Dennis Deutmeyer described the work of the Resurrection School Foundation, recently established and attracting donations and matching grants; the Foundation has already raised $240,000 of monies not usually available to the school. Patricia Hart, one of our trustees, introduced herself. It was noted that the trustees are an important part of the parish and school corporation. The Cardinal, Vicar General, Pastor, and two trustees make up our corporation. Nicole Rosich thanked the council and our parish for the donation of $1,000 to a student outreach program at Boston College. Mary Cecelia Kelly, wife of Jim Kelly, a council member, congratulated Sr. Mary Clark for her discussion of the confessions of St. Augustine. This lecture is part of our Adult Faith Development Program in our parish. Programs for 2007-08 were announced.
