Holy Rosary

With the approval of the Parish Council, Holy Rosary Parish in Port Chester, has been designated an outreach partner.  Working with a diverse group of volunteers, Resurrection has made great strides in developing a social mission plan that facilitates outreach initiatives in this neighboring community.

Following is a summary of the work being done and in need of continued support:

Food

Resurrection provides an average of 20 bags of groceries a week to the  Holy Rosary Food Pantry.  Grocery bags with lists of what is needed can be found in the vestibule of the Church.

Clothing

The Open Closet offers clothing for men, women, children, and infants as well as books and household items (linens). Donations of clothing are received daily and can be left at a bin outside the Holy Rosary Church office.  Adult and teen volunteers are needed on Monday afternoons to help with the sorting and folding of the donations.

Folding donated clothing in a presentable fashion becomes a prayer.

Education

Resurrection volunteers have been tutoring at Holy Rosary Grammar School for a couple of years. During that time, it was discovered that the school had a great need for functioning computer equipment. Through funds received from the Resurrection Outreach Fund, ten new Dell computers were purchased and installed by volunteers from Resurrection.

Principal, Mary Norelli, works to install new Dell computers under the able tutelage of volunteer Tom Saunders.

Nadia Rizzo welcomes new equipment in the lab where she instructs students.

New computer stations--all set and ready to go.

Tutoring: To assist children with their homework, Resurrection volunteers tutor children at Holy Rosary School weekday afternoons from 2:45 ~ 4:00 p.m. Tutoring begins at the start of Fall and Winter semesters. Adults and teens are welcome.
