Haiti

Through Sr. Kathleen Scanlon, RJM, Resurrection's Director of Religious Education, the Outreach Committee learned of on-going needs in Haiti, the poorest nation in the world. The Religious of Jesus and Mary have established missions in this country and need support to help provide the basic necessities to the people of Haiti.

Donations through the Outreach Committee help to bring water, food, medicine, educational materials, and agricultural know-how to these missions. Regular updates from the RJMs are to be published in the Parish Bulletin. In this way the parish will be kept informed as to how the donations are being used and the progress that is being made.

One basic improvement, for example:

Children attending Camp Claudine can go to the river for a swim everyday. Normally this is only a ten minute walk.  However, when it rains, the road becomes a muddy stream.  In April Claude Etienne, the school guardian seen in this photo, organized putting rocks in the road.  Without this work, children and every one else would be walking ankle deep in mud.  The school made a donation toward the cost of the rocks from donations given by Resurrection Outreach.
